Mudrās

A mudrā (Sanskrit: lit. "seal") is a symbolic or ritual gesture in Hinduism and Buddhism. While some mudrās involve the entire body, most are performed with the hands and fingers. Mudrā is a 'spiritual gesture' and energetic 'seal of authenticity' employed in the iconography and sadhana of Dharmic Traditions and Taoic Traditions; particularly those influenced by Tantra, Shinto and Shamanism.

According to the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, there are five categories of Mudrās:

Hasta Mudrās (mudrās done with the hands)

Mana Mudrās (head mudrās, done with the eyes, ears, nose, tongue and lips)

Kaya Mudrās (postural mudrās)

Bandha Mudrās (lock mudrās)

Adhara Mudrās (perineal mudrās)

The mudrās that we provide examples of here are all Hasta Mudrās.
